The Chronicles Of [DAD]
The Elona Campaign
Part 1: Dark Beginnings
The waves broke gently against the hull of the galleon, the decks sole inhabitant gazed towards the ever-growing landmas. Dark eyes strained under thin black brows to see into the fading light. The suns last rays caught the shinning scaly black armour of the the tall dark skinned and well muscled warrior. The sun light traces the large scar that runs vertical on the left side of his face. Shortly later there was a new stranger walking accross the deck. He was a tall, tanned skin man, dressed richly in the armor of a warrior. His gladiators armour clanks noisily as he walks to the other inhabitant, while his blonde hair flows wildly in the wind. "Greetings my brother Dj Paul, you know there's a party going on below right?" inquired the newcomer. Dj runs a hand over his shortly cropped hair in thought.
"My friend, you have no idea what my life has been like. Sure I have the best armor money can buy, and extraordinary weapons. Yes I have emperors and whole races indebted to me. I even fought with you in the Ring of Fire and against Shiro, and no I didn't turn from them in fear. But they are small and matter little compared to my past before meeting you. Do you remember when we first met? I was but a young soldier in Ascalon city. I told you that my problems were my own. Well in Elona I am an exile. My farther is one of the richest men in all the land. My farther acted as the unseen hand protecting the Sunspear Order since its foundation. When I was but a mere child I found out that the Sunspears were following an evil and corrupt god. When i tried to tell people, the order tried to have me silenced. My farther beat me and then disowned me, I was banished from the land. To even mention my name is to forfit your own life. Do you see now why I am saddend and afraid to return home? How will I be received? My entire family has forgotten about me. All of my childhood friends chose not to follow me into exile. I have often contemplated turning back right now from the Ionians. They exiled me, so why should I return and free them from a corrupt god that I warned them about once before. They chose not to do anything about the god they worshipped. Part of me just wants to look into their pathetic faces and just walk away from them. To turn my back on them for the years of punishment, but I know I cannot do that. It would not be the actions of a true warrior." was the muscular warriors answer.
"This is something I cannot answer my brother. But I will tell you this, I have stood by you since the beginning and I will not abandon you now. The entire guild of D.A.D stands behind you. What ever happens to you, you will not be alone. You want to know something though? In all this time people have thought you were a simple warrior, but I know that is not true. You have shown me the wisdom of the elders in your speech just now. To know that you must do something you prefer not to do, but still know you must do it is true wisdom. I will leave you to your thoughts. Just try and make it to the party before it's over. The crew expects you to make a show" stated the elder guild leader. Filled with courage Dj looked back towards the shadowy landmass of Elona. Thoughts of his home land and his abrupt departure assailed his mind. The conversation done, Uncle Noteeth retired back to the party below deck.
"I know I am not alone, but it matters little. My past has caught up with me, and I must choose to accept it and fight it, or turn back from it. That will be a choice not easily made my friends. I feel I cannot ask you to join me, but we shall see. What kind of man will I be if I refuse to ask my true friends for help? How could I look myself in the mirrior if I walked away from my homeland in a time of need? What the hell am I suppose to do? Either way I act, I inflict pain on myself or those I once cared about. I cannot win in this battle." Dj said into the wind. He spent the rest of the night leaning on the railing of the galleon. Staring into the distance and repeating the past in his mind. He even went as far as reenacting past fights in his head. he would parry and thrust, parry and thrust, until his phantom opponents were either dead or had fled. All the while he noticed the looming dark clouds hanging over the continent of Elona. He pondered to himself as to what it portended. "I must realize there is nothing that I can do. They have requested the aid of the mighty D.A.D. I must help my guild or they may not make it, plus none of the others has ever set foot upon this land. I'm the only one who can keep them out of trouble. It is set then, I must help them. Not for myself, but for their safety." The young officer boldy stated, and continued to stare towards the landmass with defiance in his eyes.
