The New Beginning of Arkonox Dorvan
Chapter 2
Spring had passed, so had summer and yet the bright sun tempered down on me as I
limped through the sandy Plains of Jarin. I was weak and tired, still in pain on
the thought of Master’s death, so unforgiving and full of disarray. At least the
Hunger was dead too. As I shuffled forward I met a great beast before me. I was
scared; I just came back from chaos still weak and scarred in the thought. I was
forced to fight it. I took my faithful scythe in hand, glaring down on the monster.
Suddenly a quick flash of movement soared past the monster splitting the monster’s
head in half. I looked towards the silhouette… It was shaped of a medium build man
with demonic eyes of blood. I stepped back readying my scythe as I quietly chanted
my prayers to Balthazar. An aura surrounded the human, an aura of darkness and
shadows.
"Who are you, creature?" I called out cautiously.
"I am no creature I am a man…a man of darkness" replied the figure.
I stepped back even further, overwhelmed by the darkness surrounding my strange foe.
"What do you want from me?" I shouted hesitantly.
"I see you are a sunspear. I search for the great Spearmarshal Kormir. I seek
her aid. I am from the Canthan regions. I hear Shiro is back… for something called
the nightfall…" He said.
I stepped back further…how did he know about Nightfall…and what is it. Looking him
in the eyes.
"I am Dagger of Sithis…the one who exterminated Shiro. He is back I’ve been
told. My priests informed me of Kormir and a man called Arkonox Dorvan" he
bellowed.
"Well that’s me" I said quickly. "Where are you from?"
Suddenly the dark auras disappeared revealing his face. It was scarred and his dark,
red eyes were full of agony as if the dead spirits of the people he slayed had come
for revenge. He held two daggers stained in blood.
"So…you’re Arkonox Dorvan eh? You don’t look much…" he laughed quietly.
"You sure your Dorvan? You don’t look like him…maybe you’re the wrong guy…"
"I am Dorvan!" I shouted angrily "What do you want from
meanyway?!"
"Haha! Prove it! Prove your Dorvan!" He shouted as the dark auras ascended
from the ground covering his body completely.
With my scythe ready, I charged at Sithis with all my might. Swiftly he disappeared out of the blue. I looked around cautiously, sweat trickling down my face. a great shadow loomed over me. Then I noticed it was Sithis. He rapidly stabbed my back…pain besieged me as I felt blood trickle down my back. Then…a great presence filled me up. Something unexpected and strange. Suddenly drums of war resounded through my ear as a great eruption of thunder and fire rose from the ground. All I could see was fire and chaos… I was Balthazar. Partial sighted, I turned around to see Sithis drop his daggers in disbelief. All of a sudden his dark aura grew greater. He charged at me with revenge written all over his face. I swung my scythe as quickly as I could blinding myself from the conflict’s action.
All was black…. All I could see was darkness. Shadows surging throughout the area. I was
inside Sithis…it was empty and full of hate. I felt pity as I saw he was empty. The dark
shadows of the underworld has consumed his humanity…His emotions gone and bewildered. I
started to regain my sight slowly. A blurred figure lay lifelessly on the ground though
he was still alive since the sound of coughing and panting grew aloud.
"Are you ok?" I asked quietly to him.
"Perhaps you are right…the God
Balthazar favors you" he coughed as he gradually got up from the sandy soil. "I
am trying to get to the Sunspear Great Hall…would you join me?"
I looked at him smiling modestly.
"Yes…ok let’s do this" I said happily as I held out my hand.
And thus my
adventure has just started…
