The Adventures of Yoda And [DAD]

Chapter 1

Camouflaged within the trees, difficult to see, among perhaps the best spot to catch a prey. A master of blood, a person who was one with the dead, he crouched down to ground level, making himself easily enough mistaken to be the ground. His cloak was conveniently disguised so he could have just been a pile of twigs. A rabbit came past, he killed it, it was what he did after all, Kill stuff he thought it as the same thing really. He turned his head, yes! It was just ahead, searching cautiously for him. He crawled back, being careful not to make any noise to get it’s attention. He was onto a winner at the rate it was going so far. His luck would not last forever however. A twig landed on his head. He gave a small sound sounding his pain. His target turned, arrow at the ready and fired. He crouched, and slid behind a tree. He looked around the undergrowth desperately. And there it was! A solution.

A small bear was walking past. It too , was looking for prey . Yoda immediately hit a deathly swarm at it and it laid, motionless on the ground. Yoda thought this would perhaps be a convenient time to try get his first minion. However, he knew this would not be as simple as merely getting a “slave.” he had never effectively casted an animate skill so he prayed, that when he most needed , it would come. He tried casting animate bone fiend. It worked, the minion came torwards him. Clone looked back at his prey, it too had got distracted by a bear, but he couldn’t quite see what it was doing. Yoda stared at the minion, he was delighted with his achievement, something he knew he would be proud of, something he’d remember for the rest of his life.

His life had been simple so far, living in a small hut outside of Surmia, just north of the great wall, his village was a station point for guards fighting the Charr. His village was attacked by Charr a lot, one even took his dad. Ever since that day his life was never really the same. He felt lonely inside, as though something was eating away at his soul. And forever, he swore vengeance that he would fight and kill the Charr that did this. His stomach bubbled up in anger at the thought of the Charr. The bloodthirsty creatures had one goal, to kill everything that was human or civilized in any way. As of lately, it is reported the Charrs attacks were becoming more savage. These of course were just rumors and he was yet to find out if they were actually true. If they were, then three of his four brothers would be going to war as well. Chris Yoda, Ryuk Yoda and Ascencia Yoda. Chris was an elementalist, Ryuk and Ascencia however were proud warriors, ready to put everyone first, to think of others safety before theirs. He tried to look at the bright side, with war and limitation of troops came job vacancies in the Ascalon military. Of course, these were just rumors and only when he took a trip into Ascalon would he actually find out if any of this was true.

Of course, while thinking these thoughts he forgot his prey. He gave out a cry of pain, it had got him. He yelled in anger, he had been hit by pin down. He attempted to get back up, perhaps cast something more affective to hit it back. This however, came to very little as it merely casted crippling arrow on him. He was on the floor, sweating painfully. Attempting to gain back some strength to hit it back, give it a taste of what it was making him go through at this moment in time. The glory and confidence he had a few minutes ago had appeared to evaporate from him, if he can’t beat something with similar ability to him then how would he come against the Charr, how would he stand a chance against anything greater. Of course, he needed the correct training which his father never got a chance to give. When he was younger, every evening his dad came into his room and said “Hara, I will teach you to fight, and the Yoda family will be one of the greatest families in Ascalon. One day I’ll teach you everything I know, even get trainers in so you can fill your dream of becoming a ranger”. These words made him so happy, they had given him hope. However, one day after returning from Ascalon his village was ablaze and his father was not there. He missed his father and hoped that one day, he could find him, or at least his corpse if he was dead.

Suddenly, something jumped on his attacker. His newly tamed minion stuck his claws into his attackers shoulder. The necro then casted “deathly swarm” and his prey was beaten. He gave out a triumphant cry that echoed throughout the forest. He laughed at his brother, lying on the ground, trying to make some attempt to get back up. However, the minion restricted his movement so all he looked like he was doing was press ups. He was beginning to live up to the expectations of the rest of the Yoda family . Kerno gestured to his bear to stop now. The bear was calmed down and wrapped itself around his leg.
“What’s with the bear bro , where you get it from?” asked a shocked Yoda.
“We said you could have minions, so why can’t I have a bear Yoda?” answered Korno back politely.
Clone Yoda was the youngest of the Yoda brothers. He was unique for his casting skill and passion for taking advantage of corpses. However, with advantages came disadvantages. He wasn’t exactly what you’d call strong but didn’t really matter. His father thought he would make a better necromancer instead of a warrior like it was traditional for the Yoda family. Hara was always thankful his father thought like this. He had gained so much out of it. He began to think back to when he was young. It was sunset. After what was a particularly warm day. They spent the majority of the day having a picnic besides a lake south of the wall. Clone attempted to swim here and was fairly good. His father as a reward got out a staff and told him he could have it when they got home if he continued to behave. He had never been this excited, his Mom looked shocked but at the same time pleased for her son. Of course, Clone continued to behave and when they got back to the hut his dad got out the staff. It was apparently from Cantha and was one of the rarest ones about . Clone has treasured it from that day forward and was holding it on that exact day in the forest.
“Clone stop daydreaming and answer!” Korno said loudly with a tone that suggested slight impatience.
“Anyway, what do you want to do, go find Isabelle in the Yonder Tavern?” asked Clone.
“If you want to I guess, just don’t boast about your victory too much!” replied Korno in a tone that yet again sounded impatient, annoyed and a bit angry. Clone couldn’t really blame him, he had not expected this to happen so it came as a bit of a shock to find this. They began to descend in the direction south of the wall to “Yonder Tavern”.

There was a fine sunset as the two brothers walked south of the wall. As they got to the wall they went through a few checkpoints to make sure there was no “unwanted guests” as the king put it. But generally, it was just a hoax to make him look good. He didn’t care who did or did not get into Ascalon. As long as how he put it “complaining fools” didn’t rebel he would let anything happen. His son, Prince Rurik was seen as the true king. He was fair, just and put others first before himself. He also listened to Ascalons citizens views and stood up to his father. Of course, there was very little he could do until he became king. Clone looked forward to this day, it was Rurik who had troops in his village and was generally on the front line. The king couldn’t care less who was alive of dead, as long as it was north of the wall or an unimportant citizen . Clone looked up, the Yonder Tavern was in sight and Isabelle Voss was waving at the brothers.

“Isabelle! How are you!” shouted Korno. He was grinning broadly.
“Good, whats got you so happy, and what are those scars on your face?” asked Isabelle, probably thinking that some unwanted monster jumped on him. Clone grinned as Korno stuttered a few times.
“Well, according to sources in my guild close to the governing body of Ascalon, nothing is going to be done about the Charr, in the short run anyway.” Said Isabelle grimly.
“WHAT!” said Clone looking startled. “ Is the King insane?”
“Don’t ask questions you already know the answer to.” Said Korno looking sternly at Clone. Clone laughed, Korno didn’t appear to like anybody in the governing body of Ascalon.
“Well, they is some good news, I got a minion today.” grinned Clone. Isabelle nodded, clearly impressed by this news.
“You may get into the Ascalon training academy if you keep this up, or you could always try for Shing Jea Monastery I guess, but they don’t like people not from Cantha anymore.” Said Isabelle.
“Worth a go, representatives from the White Mantle of Kryta are going to try negotiate for all of Tyria, probably a publicity stunt however.” Answered Clone.
“You know a lot for a person with no outside links.” Isabelle replied grinning.
“Part of it comes down to common sense, the White Mantle are trying to gain support for some of their new ideas.” Clone dismissed.
“You don’t even know what these plans are, however my guild has some idea, of course I’m not supposed to tell anybody at this current time, well not unless your within the guild.” Isabelle announced as though it was some official document that only two people knew about, of course it was three hundred in this case, so it wasn’t that big an achievement to know this in Clone’s opinion.
“Do you know if Korno and I could perhaps join?” Asked Clone unsure.
“Yes, finally my bro is speaking sense.” Laughed Korno. “But seriously Isabelle, could we?”
“You need to have done Ascalon Training Acadamy first. Then I will arrange that you join, hey, would you like to meet some more guildies tomorrow?” Asked Isabelle.
“Yeah, could help I guess.” Replied Clone not appearing to care. But he was very excited about this advance.
“Anyway, to your pet, what are you going to name it?” Asked Isabelle curiously looking down at the thing circling Clone’s leg.
“I’ll come up with a name later” replied Kerno, a sense of pride returning to him. Clone had completely forgot the pet had followed him here, and had been here for all the time he was talking. However, Clone was put out of his thought with a giant roar coming from the other side of the tavern.
“Oh dear, I advise you go, cya tomorrow and I’ll deal with this.” Said Isabelle furiously getting up, spear ready to strike down the trouble. Clone looked over, it was Frank and Serra having a fight at the other side of the tavern. Either side of the table they were sitting were 6 beer glasses. Korno laughed as they left the tavern.

Clone was deep in thought? Could he join Isabelle Voss’s guild that had got so much publicity? And if he did what if he didn’t like it, he had never been in a guild before and one of the things he liked about being guild less is the fact you were so free, no responsibility, you looked after yourself, and only yourself. After all, that is what rangers did. And should he just join the Ascalon military instead when he’s completed Ascalon academy training. Well luckily for him he had a lot of time to think about these issues. His most pressing issue right now was whether there would be enough visibility to get home. Clone, Korno and the bear walked towards the wall, night fast approaching.
