WintersDAD!

December 20th 2007 saw the return of the intensely popular and decorative festival of Wintersday. With the four grand cities of the Guild wars world "shining like beacons in the winter night sky" and the citizens patriotic to this esteemed event boasting their chosen god around Tyria and lands beyond it promised to be one of the most memorable Winterdad's yet.
This December DAD spent its third Wintersday together and throughout the twelve days leading up to the grand finale quested, gambled, drank, played games and voted in their hundreds for the favour of the Wintersday Gods; Grenth and Dwayna.
After a long and successful year this annual tradition of Wintersday was well lived by the enthusiastic members of DAD who were ready to try their luck with the Gods on the nine rings or chase after four legged offerings to Dwayna. Sweet, colourful candy cane shards where dropped frequently throughout the event and were traded for winter goodies to last the year until the next momentous event.
A DAD invasion took place at the grand finale in Lions Arch international district 10, where members turned up with their festive cheer to help decide a winner for the finale and join in on the festivities with DAD guildies. Well known faces such as Jule Shannara (Guild leader) and Draco Zandros (Site Admin) were present for the event with other DAD guildies and ex-guildies who still call DAD home. Victory was taken by Dwayna and the Wintersday hats that were received that day were shown off in the district of DAD where presents hailed from the sky and once again DAD turned up in its numbers to celebrate this beloved holiday together. DAD has always been about having fun in a friendly and welcoming community and this Wintersday it achieved just that and shows a promising start to the New Year.

Member Interviews!

Game boy Pocket's Interview

Hello people! This is an interview on one of our new members, Game Boy Pocket. I hope you will enjoy this and this will feature exclusive insight on Game Boy's personal opinion on DAD!

How long have you play GW?
I have played for 1000 hours, 20 months and 52 hours over the past for days.
How old are you?
14 B-day on January the 11th
Do you like DAD?
Yup! It is the best guild I've been in so far because unlike the other guilds I was in; they didn't communicate very well and didn't help each other out unlike DAD.
Who is your favourite DAD leader and why?
Uncle! He pwns because he helped me in my 1st week in DAD when I started.
Do you have any people in mind to thank?
Titan because he invited me…no wait it was Sithis, NEVERMIND! It's bad that Sithis left though. I want to thank everybody, cos I don't have many people to talk to. Some of my guildies are a LITTLE CRAZY! *points at Dorvan*
What do you think about DAD3 being disbanded?
Was lame… Since I was absent when it happened, Strafe still PM's me every now and then
What were the other guilds like before you joined DAD?
Eh…I joined a guild called Cookie Monster. It was boring, everyone was offline.
What's your favourite bit about GW?
Probably PVP, because you get to kill people and you don't have to cap skills.
Who is your greatest role model in GW?
Dj, I don't know, 1st time I went on TS…He was hilarious! I told him he was my role model.

Here are some comments from other guild members on Game boy Pocket:

Taby Cat aka Clouded Leopard
He is kinda disturbing, but funny! He's not as disturbing as Dorvan though! Definitely not!

Arkonox Dorvan
By far the best ranger in PVP I know! He is great fun too. Im glad he joined DAD.

Bella interview

How long have you played GW?
Since day one
How old are you?
And we come to the age question. That seems to be a topic of discussion with me doesn't it? Well contrary to popular belief, I am not 23, nor am I a cat. Let's just say im over 30 or more.
When did you join DAD?
I've only been a member of DAD since December. My partner in crime, Ms Searing Heartsblade managed to convince me to join yet another guild. So far, it's been great. But no one knows me yet, so that may change.
How do you know Searing Heartsblade?
We hooked up during a festival (Can than I believe) She was the only one who I tolerated…in a district full of nudists.
Who is your favourite DAD leader and why?
Well, seeing as I only been here for a few weeks, I can't really answer that. I haven't even had the chance to meet everyone yet. Draco seems nice, but he still hasn't brought me pizza.
Have you been to a guild before DAD? If so, why did you leave it?
I've been in far too many for my liking actually. Most of them are filled with nothing but whiny babies who think they are so wonderful.
Do you have any people in mind to thank?
Sure. I've stopped playing for a long time. Then I just decided to log on again. That's when I met Bev (Searing). We have a sense of humour and had some great times. She dragged me into this guild.
What is your favourite bit about GW?
Being able to set myself offline. Haha
What I think, Draco has an interest in you… do you think that's true?
Fine, lets just say my experiences with Draco have been like two tornadoes vying for that last Trailer in the park...

Elder Friebrand's Interview

Here is a unique interview on Taby Cat (Kitty da Conqueror) and Chakz Daman's dad, Elder Friebrand. Here is his opinion on DAD:

How long have you played GW?
A little over a year. I started when my son was playing; he pointed it out to me.
How old are you?
I'm 54.
Do you like DAD?
I really enjoy DAD-the reasons are many folds. The PPL are great! The senior players are always helping the young players.
Who is your favourite DAD leader?
That is a tough one, I like Jule, Mystery is also great but I haven't met Pol.
If your son never showed you GW, what game would you be playing now or doing now?
Well, we play different games at time. We've played City of Heroes; I probably would have looked at WoW. But I wasn't impressed with it because of it typically focused on levelling.
Do you have anybody in mind to thank?
Yes, I think I would want to thank Jule, he saw in my daughter, a person who would be loyal to DAD and that is a sign of good leadership, yes.
If you had to leave DAD, what would you do?
Hmm, I would not wish to leave DAD, it would be really hard to find a guild as good as DAD. I would probably discuss it with my daughter and son to see what they would do.
Have you been to any other guild? If so which guild and what was it like?
I think we were in one called ZoN but they did not talk or seem very active.
When were you recruited to DAD and how?
Next month it will be a year. Of course, I wasn't the one recruited-It was Samantha.
What is your favourite bit about GW?
GW has so much to do; the game is so diverse you can do PVE, Heroes, Weapons, Armour, Builds and PVP etc.
Last but not least, who is your greatest role model in GW?
Wow, I would say Uncle-He lead by example.

Here are some comments about Elder Friebrand on what the players thought:

Arkonox Dorvan
I have to say Elder Friebrand is really, really interesting and is great fun too! I think he can set other younger players a great example like Uncle.

What the Guild Thought!

What Would you like to see from DAD in the future?

For this new year I Know DAD will carry on being the best guild in GW and carry on getting new great members as well as being home to the some of the greatest people ever :D and with all the new ideas it looks a bright year :D,
– Myst

I would like to see more people in DAD Questing/Farming/Hunting together. I don't think we actually spend as much time in game together as you would think; It's always the same 3-5 people jumping into help on the quests. I'd Like to see that, maybe a FOW or HA team form, I will hope that our officers will do a better job next year in helping out everyone.
– Jule

The guild is already great seems perfect to me hard to answer maybe less members that come and go, and more activity.
- Major Assassin Kill

I would love to see us on the guild of the week again and to see us noticed as being the most helpful guild, I love this guild and I know that it does a lot for others; I would love to see something happen in DAD.
-Maverick

What do you think about the variety of events in Guild Wars?

Elley – I think the events would be a sight better with nicer headwear, and more mead!

Draco- MORE!!!

Taby – I Think the variety is very good, its nice not just to stick to one place, my favourite part is when you get presents and prizes!

- Vox Pops conducted by Thorn

I Would just like to say a huge thank you to the press team for all they're hard work putting this article together. Without them, this paper wouldn't be in production. So thank you all!
This edition was put together by Thorn, Mystery, Ikra, Dorvan, and Ong.

Bah, they forgot to thank me for turning a stupid word document into a web page. Well, humbug to them all! - Draco
