Uncle Noteeth

Where did you get your name from?

I created "Uncle Noteeth" as my very first character in Guild Wars when I first started playing the game around June of 2005. Initially, the character was just to be a joke for my 2 nephews who I have played many RPG games with over the years. I wanted to see their reaction when they saw the name "Uncle Noteeth" being in real life I am their uncle and I really ALMOST have no teeth. Needless to say they were rolling on the floor when I first showed them my Guild wars warrior.

Did you make any previous guilds?

Yes, after beating prophecies, I created a guild named Americas Freedom Fighters (AFF), prior to that I never belonged to any guild.

Why did you make DAD?

DAD was originally created out of frustration. My first guild "AFF" was suffering from a lack of active members. In addition the few active members (including myself) wanted to do a lot more PVP and we just did not have the numbers to gvg on a regular basis. Therefore, after a short period of time, both myself, No Sword and Cortana Val decided to start fresh and form a new guild. At the time, Hp Is Fool was considering creating his own guild, so instead of disbanding AFF, I left it to him and moved on to form DAD. Hp eventually disbanded AFF anyway and joined us. LOL! Currently Draco has asked me to write a history of DAD and I will be adding quite a bit more to the story of how and why DAD was created when I complete that.

Whats your opinion on GW2?

I was extremely disappointed when Anet announced that they were not going to continue with the release of campaigns for GW1. I loved the idea fresh content and new storylines every 6 months or so, however the initial news about Guild Wars 2 tempered my disappointment. My entire opinion changed once details started to emerge about GW2.
First, I was crushed to hear that we would not be able to carry our characters over to GW2. Even though I know all the reasons why Anet said it would be too difficult to carry them over I am sure they would have been able to do it. Personally, I would have brought the characters over by using a great storyline something like "in the bowels of the northern Shiverpeaks our characters finally defeat the great evil in GWEN, but immediately after the Evil falls, a great earthquake occurs due to the release of all of his evil energy. The tremors cause our characters to fall into a great icy abyss where they are flash frozen in time. 200 years later, (in GW2) an exploring party lead by the Asura finds us and through their magic and technology they manage to bring us back to life where we once again fight to save the world from new enemies".
Second, I am very concerned with the way Anet is describing how they will develop GW2.
1 No linear storyline, instead you could play through story archs - (I play games for the storyline, if it does not have a good story, I don't stay with it).
2 Open world with some instances (boss camping, monster spawning, yuck)
3 z-axis control system so you cannot move with the mouse (I use the mouse to move, I am no keyboard turner)
All of the above sounds way to much like World of Warcraft, and to me WOW was just an endless borefest of mindless quests . I hope GW2 is not another WOW!

Will you make a GW2 DAD?

The answer is "YES". Even if I wind up not liking GW2 and decide not to play much, I will create a DAD in GW2. In addition, the website will be expanded for both GW1 and GW2 players.

What's your favorite profession and why?

This may be surprising but Ranger is my favorite. I think this is by far the most under-rated prof. in the game. A good ranger build will deal good damage and keep you alive. I love playing my ranger "Ashia Bowtooth". She is a r/mo and uses a barrage/interrupt build (no pets).

Whats your most satisfying GW moment(s)?

By far my most satisfying moment is when we were chosen by Anet as "Guild of the Week". I was so proud of every single member in DAD for making this guild one of the best in the game. It was truly a high point for all members of DAD. Other moments include the contests and parties we held (and still hold). Is great to see so many members show up and participate in the fun.

What do you think will be your favorite part of GWEN (that Anet have shown us so far)?

Anything that will directly involve Gwen herself. Both I and Draco have been fascinated with her story and what part she plays in the overall GW storyline itself. I also believe that the end of the game will be both very satisfying and sad at the same time for me, knowing that I may not enjoy GW2 as much as I loved playing this game.

How did you get into playing computer games in the first place?

My introduction into video games came when Diablo 1 was first released. I took my nephew to CompUsa and bought him a copy of the game. We brought it back to my house, and installed it on my pc so he could play it for a while before he went home. After about 30 minutes, he quickly got frustrated because he kept dying and stopped playing. My nephew went home without the game so I decided to check it out myself, and I have not stopped playing rpg games since that day.

What type of games do you play?

I play RPG's and 3rd person view only. I like to have a wide view of both my character and all others around me, that's one of the reasons why I don't play games like shooters (FPS). Some of the games I have really gotten into over the years have been: Diablo 1 and Diablo 2, the first Summoner, Vampire The Masquerade, Titan Quest, Neverwinter Knights, Divine Divinity, Ultima Online, and more.

How did you get into computers?

Many years ago I had a mail order company that sold specialty woodworking tools. At that time computers were just starting to be used in homes and small companies like mine, so I bought my first computer to run my business and create my mail order catalog, it was a 386, and I believe it had less than 1 meg of ram. Well I got so into using the computer, I decided to learn about how they are made and what makes them tick. From there, I started to build my own computers and learn the internet using CompuServe (one of the first service providers). By the late nineties, I was building pc's for neighbors and writing basic html web pages and in 2000 open up my own business, Tekno MicroSystems LLC. which I will talk about next.

What is teknoms about? (the big letters saying coming soon are very intresting!)

teknoms is (as you now know) my company Tekno Microsystems. It was originally formed by myself and my lifelong friend Charlie. We originally built and serviced computer systems for very small businesses (25 or less workstations), thus the name Tekno MICROSYSTEMS. As time past, I started to design and develop some websites and online stores and before we knew it, this was bringing in the majority of our sales. Charlie left the company several years ago and I was thinking ofdissolving the company and starting under a new name, because this namd does not really fit what I do now which is mostly internet development. However, I decided just to keep the name instead of going through the hassle of creating a new corp. I now host over 30 sites and am usually always busy with new design work.

When are you going to finish your website www.teknoms.net/

LOL! I bet this question is Draco's doing!! I used to have a site for Tekno MicroSystems (teknoms.com) but got rid of it and purchased the teknoms.net domain. I have wanted to get the site up and start advertising my company a little more on the net but have never gotten around to doing it. maybe now that I have a new home with a $500.000 mortgage, I will get to work on it so I can make more money LOL!

I have also googled teknoms.net and came across DAD's old news archive from one of the entrys it looks like other guilds used to be able to join our alliance, is this true?

Yes when factions first came out we did recruit other guilds into our Alliance, however most of them were never very active and it really was not worth the trouble. It was then that I got the idea for expanding our membership buy creating multiple DAD guilds, and I believe it was the best thing that happened for this guild. Since then we have grown and gotten many great loyal and active members.

Also since your email is @teknoms.net is teknoms going to be some big (evil) company your making that will take over the world?! If so can the members of DAD join? (joke)

Maybe one day Teknoms will become even greater than DAD, but it's not likely because no corp. or entity can be as great or successful as DAD!
Comment from Uncle: I am surprised you did not ask me any questions about the 2nd Birthday for DAD coming up in October. Well for those who were wondering we will be having a big party in the DAD1 Guild Hall. I don't know any of the details yet and I am sure Jule will be talking more about this in the future. Right now I am planning to contribute at least 300k for the party and hopefully much more before the day of the party.
I would like to thank you Hyper for taking the time to interview me and I loved the whole idea of the Press team and the regular interviews with members. I would also like to thank all the members of the DAD Alliance for making this the very best game I ever played.
